Accommodation

Wild Acres Care Home has 26 comfortable bedrooms. En-suite facilities are available in 13 of the bedrooms.

The remaining 13 bedrooms all have washbasins and a nearby bathroom. All bedrooms are furnished with a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and a chair. Nurse call bell systems are in place in every room.

There are two communal lounges in the home. One is a large lounge for those who enjoy sitting and chatting or watching television, the conservatory lounge is for those who prefer quiet recreation and reading.

There is a separate dining room where we encourage all residents to have their meals together and use this opportunity for socializing but those who prefer having their meals in their rooms are given the choice to do so.

The home has delightfully landscaped gardens and a large patio area with seating which residents and families enjoy throughout the warmer months. A separate room is allocated for hairdressing and Occupational therapy sessions. In addition, we employ handymen and gardeners as well as other professionals to keep the home safe and running smoothly for you.

The environment

The physical environment of the home is designed for residents’ convenience and comfort. In particular, we will do the following:

  • Maintain the buildings and grounds in a safe condition.
  • Make detailed arrangements for the communal areas of the home to be safe and comfortable.
  • Supply toilet, washing and bathing facilities suitable for the residents for whom we care.
  • Arrange for specialist equipment to be available to maximise residents’ independence.
  • Provide individual accommodation which at least meets the National Minimum Standards.
  • See that residents have safe, comfortable bedrooms, with their own possessions around them.
  • Ensure that the premises are kept clean, hygienic and free from unpleasant odours, with systems in place to control the spread of infection.

Food at Wild Acres

We are proud of the high quality of our meals here at Wild Acres. Our food is freshly prepared and cooked on site each day, carefully designed to be enjoyable while providing balanced nutrition to our residents.

Regularly rotating the menus to follow seasons ensures we always have meals which cater to our residents’ likes and dislikes, including those who require modified or specialist diets.

Meet the Chef!!

Cheryl Pinches has many years of experience as a chef. We just love the bespoke menus of home-cooked food that she prepares for our residents!

Cheryl loves to create classic and simple modern dishes that inspire residents to recall happy memories of family dinners and Sunday lunches. She is keen to serve highly nutritious food that benefits the health of residents. Our relief chef is Kyra Hull who also works as a Kitchen Assistant.

Activities at Wild Acres

Our Wellbeing and Lifestyle Manager, Olena, and our Lifestyle Coordinator, Roxi, provide stimulating, engaging, and meaningful activities for all our residents. They play a vital role in enriching daily life at Wild Acres by creating a fun, inclusive, and varied programme of activities that everyone can enjoy.

Olena and Roxi take the time to get to know each resident as an individual, tailoring activities to personal interests, hobbies, and abilities. This person-centred approach enables the ladies and gentlemen who live with us to learn new skills, rediscover much-loved pastimes, and enjoy opportunities for social connection through an ever-evolving programme of events.

Activities vary widely and may include arts and crafts, visiting musicians, gentle exercise sessions, and outings such as trips to the local garden centre.

All activities are thoughtfully designed to stimulate the mind, support physical movement, and promote emotional wellbeing, helping residents to feel happy, engaged, and fulfilled between visits from family and friends.

In addition, the wide range of activities available, the choice of welcoming spaces throughout the home, and the caring camaraderie of the Wild Acres family combine to create a warm, loving, and enjoyable environment.

While there is a reassuring rhythm to daily life at Wild Acres, residents are always encouraged to dance to their own tune. We support everyone to pursue their interests, use their skills and knowledge, and maintain meaningful relationships. We celebrate each person’s life experiences and achievements and respect and support individual choice every step of the way.
